Thomas McBride
Private Thomas McBride, 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston, Falkirk. Son of Thomas and Jeanie McBride, 20 Fortingall Place, Laurieston, Falkirk. His older brother William was serving in the army, he also had two younger brothers and sisters. He enlisted in the Territorial battalion on 9 September 1914 and went to France with the battalion on 15 December 1914.

L/Cpl Peter West, 12th Battalion Royal Scots, Laurieston, Employed at N.B.R. as a surface worker he enlisted in the Territorials on 16 December 1914.

John Dick Sime
Private John Dick Sime, 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston, He is buried in a double grave at Hazebrouck Communal Cemetery, France. He died of his wounds which were gun shot wound to chest and head.

Edward McBride
Private Edward McBride, 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston, Edward was employed at the Caledonian Railway Company at Grangemouth and he enlisted in the Territorials on 4 July 1914.

Alexander Muir
Private Alexander Muir, 2nd Battalion, Kings Own Scottish Borderers, Laurieston, He originally enlisted in 1899 and saw service in South Africa where he was wounded in action. He was on the reserve list from 22 October 1907. He was employed at the Nobel Explosive Works in Polmont and Kilsyth. He rejoined his Regiment and landed in France on 16 September 1914.

James Moodie
Private James Moodie, 15th Battalion, Royal Scots, Laurieston, husband of Mary Moodie of 6 Forth Street, Falkirk. They had a child of five years of age. Before enlisting in April 1916 he was employed at the Grangemouth Soap Works. Wounded at Arras in April 1917, he returned to the front on 15 October 1917.

Benjamin Joseph Vipond Mitchell
Private Benjamin Joseph Vipond Mitchell, 37th Company, Labour Corps, Laurieston, He was employed as a clipper at Meadowbank Colliery before enlisting in the Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders in February 1916 and was subsequently transferred to the Labour Corps.

Richard Leishman
L/Cpl Robert Leishman, 1/7 Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston, He was employed in the Commercial Bank, Grangemouth. He was formerly an assistant Scoutmaster in the local Boy Scouts, and served in the Territorials before the declaration of war, joining on 25 March 1914, at the age of 17 years and 11 months.

James Sharp Kay
Private James Sharp Kay, 11th Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston. He was employed as a pattern maker at Laurieston Iron Foundry before enlisting. On 22 August, the Battalion was in the line at Frezenberg Ridge, preparing to advance on the strong points at Beck House and Borry Farm. On the right the fate of the leading companies of the 13th Royal Scots and the 11th Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders will never be known.

Private James Ferguson, 12 (Service) Battalion, Highland Light Infantry, Laurieston. Before enlisting he was employed by Messers MacDowell, Stevens & Co, Laurieston Iron Foundry.

Private David Edwards, 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston. He was employed as a moulder at Laurieston Iron Works before enlisting in the Territorial Battalion on 9 September 1914.

William Cooper
Private William Cooper, 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston. Before enlisting he was employed at The Queens Hotel, Grangemouth. He joined the Territorial Battalion on 14 September 1914, for a period of 4 years.

Hugh H Connel
Guardsman Hugh H Connel, 1st Battalion, Scots Guards, Laurieston. He was employed by Messers Gillespie of Falkirk as a Carter. A reservist, he had previously served seven years with the Scots Guards. His three brothers were also serving, Private John Connell, Royal Scots was a PoW, Private Alex Connel, Royal Scots and Bandsman William Connell, Royal Scots were both in training.

Robert Campbell
Private Robert Campbell, 2nd Battalion Gordon Highlanders, Laurieston. Employed as a slater with Messrs T McGregor & Sons of Laurieston. He joined the Cameron Highlanders in February 1916, however; after his training he was transferred to the Gordon Highlanders.

James Brand
Sergeant James Brand, ‘D’ Coy, 2nd Battalion, Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, Laurieston. He was 18 years old when he joined the army in 1909 serving 5 years and 184 days before being killed in action. Before enlisting he was employed as a mason to trade. He was also an athlete, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir in the local Established Church in Laurieston and a member of the Guild, and held office in the Rechabites.
