Family history: Son of Alexander and Williamina Ferguson, 180 Mary Place, Wallace Street, Falkirk. Before enlisting he was employed by Messers MacDowell, Stevens & Co, Laurieston Iron Foundry.

During the course of the morning of the 30 September, the

Division moved forward to approach Wervicq from the north and west.

At 4.30pm with the attack now hung up it was decided to dig in an hold the positions until the following day.
