British Airmen-Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery
Kemmel Chateau Military Cemetery is located in the grounds of the former Kemmel Chateau which was north-east of Kemmel village and the cemetery was established on the north side of the chateau grounds in December 1914. It continued to be used by divisions fighting on the southern sectors of the Belgian front until March 1918, when after fierce fighting involving both Commonwealth and French forces, the village and fell into German hands in late April.

British Airman - La Laiterie Military Cemetery
The La Laiterie Military Cemetery, named from a dairy farm which was located nearby, was begun in November 1914 and used until October 1918 by units holding this sector of the front. Lieutenant Henry Eric Dolan M.C. He transferred to the General List on 31 August 1917 and joined the Royal Flying Corps. In early 1918, he was posted to No.74Squadron which flew SE.5a aircraft and was assigned to ‘A’ Flight, under the command of Major Edward Corringham ‘Mick’ Mannock, V.C., M.C.

British Airmen - Westoutre British Cemetery
Westoutre British Cemetery, CWGC, is located within the village of Westoutre (now Westouter) and the village remained in Allied hands from the early months of the First World War to the Armistice, but in the summer of 1918, after the Battles of the Lys, it was within 2.4 Kms of the front line. Westoutre British Cemetery, CWGC, was begun in October 1917. It was used until the following April and again in August-October 1918, and 50 graves were concentrated here from BIXSCHOTE

British Airmen - Chester Farm Cemetery
Chester Farm Cemetery, CWGC, Zillebeke, Ypres, was the name given to a farm, probably by the Cheshire Regiment, about 1 Km South of Blauwepoort Farm, on the road from Zillebeke to Voormezeele. There is one Royal Flying Corps Officer buried here. The cemetery was begun on 15 March 1915 when two men from the Norfolk Regiment were buried here both killed on the same day and are buried in Plot II AA1 and AA1A, and was used by front line troops until November 1917.

Hospital Farm Cemetery, CWGC, was the name given to a farm building used as a dressing station. There are two Royal Flying Corps men buried in Hospital Farm Cemetery, CWGC. It was traditionally called Hospitaalhoeve as the farm was once owned by the Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of St John of Jerusalem, Rhodes and Malta The cemetery was used particularly in 1915 and in 1917 by regiments and batteries engaged in the fighting around Ypres. Oosttaverne Wood Cemetery, CWGC, Wijtschate, is located within The Oosttaverne Line a German defensive line that ran northward from the River Lys to the Comines Canal, passing just east of Oosttaverne. It was one of the main objectives on the first day of the Battle of Messines and was captured on 7 June 1917, the first day of the Battle of Messines, the village and the wood being taken by the 19th (Western) Division and the 11th Division.

The Royal Flying Corps (RFC) went from being a branch of the army to the first independent air service in the world. The aerial technology employed developed with bewildering speed from flimsy aircraft that were poorly armed, only capable of carrying light men, to within a few years being transformed into well-armed machines capable of high altitude and incredible manoeuvres, and with a bombing capability that was extensive by the end of the war in 1918.
