Family history: He lived at 165 High Street, Falkirk and was the son of Elizabeth Cooper his father had died. He had two sisters and a brother. Before enlisting he was employed at The Queens Hotel, Grangemouth. He joined the Territorial Battalion on 14 September 1914, for a period of 4 years.
