James McIntyre - Link to Airth
Private James McIntyre, Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry, Airth, Falkirk, Second Battle of Ypres. He emigrated to Canada in 1913 and was employed as a Police Constable with the Stirlingshire Constabulary and based in Denny before he emigrated to Canada and joined the Canadian Police. He enlisted on 27 August 1914 in Ottawa and stated that he had previous service with ‘B’ Company Highland Cyclists, Black Watch.

John McGunigal - Link to Bainsford
Private John McGunigal, ‘C’ Company 49th Battalion, Bainsford Falkirk. He emigrated to Canada in 1912 and was employed by the Callander Iron Company before he emigrated. He listed his profession as Ironmoulder when he enlisted on 5 February 1915 in Edmonton and was unmarried. He listed his mother as his next of kin.

William McGowan - Link to Bo'ness
Driver William McGowan, 3rd Australian Field Ambulance. Bo'ness, Falkirk. Husband of Elizabeth Markie Stevens McGowan, they had a son & lived at Dovercourt Street, Toowong, Queensland. His wife remarried. William gave his trade as Brickburner when he enlisted on 6 August 1915, he also stated that he had three years of service with the Royal Scots Territorials before he emigrated to Australia.

Charles McCallum - Link to Bo'ness
Private Charles McCallum, 44th Field Ambulance, RAMC, 14th Division. Bo'ness, Falkirk. He was married to Christina McCallum and they lived at 30 Montrose Street, Lochore, Fife with their six children. Charles lived in Bo’ness with his wife and children and worked as a miner at Kinneil Colliery before he moved to Fife. He enlisted in the Royal Army Medical Corps soon after the war began and went to France on 21 May 1915 and joined the 44th Field Ambulance.

William McEwan Leishman - Link to Grangemouth
Private William McEwan Leishman, 3rd Canadian Pioneer Battalion, 3rd Canadian Division. Grangemouth, Falkirk. William was unmarried and listed his trade as Carpenter when he enlisted in Vernon, British Columbia on 31 July 1915, and that he had served three years in the Territorial Army Service Corps. He went to France on 9 March 1916 and joined the 3rd Canadian Pioneers.

Duncan Laing - Link to Grangemouth
Private Duncan Laing, 1st/10th Battalion The King’s (Liverpool Scottish Regiment), Grangemouth, Falkirk. Duncan died of his wounds, a gun shot to the back, at the Casualty Clearing Station at Lijssenthoek on 16 December. His death was as a result of an accident that occurred on 11 December during a Lewis Gun demonstration. A Court of Enquiry was convened on 11 December into how Duncan was accidentally wounded.

John Kerr - Link to Dennyloanhead
Private John Kerr, 49th Battalion, 3rd Canadian Division. Dennyloanhead. Son of Alexander and Christina Kerr, Belmont Cottage, Dennyloanhead. He was employed as a Miner when he enlisted in Edmonton on 20 January 1915. He sailed from Montreal to the UK on 11 September 1915 and arrived at Shorncliffe Camp on 14 September joining the 49th Battalion on 30 September. He went to France on 9 October 1915.

Bombardier Walter Jamieson, 110th Field Artillery (Howitzer) Battery, 10th Field Artillery Brigade, 4th Australian Divisional Artillery. Camelon, Falkirk. Son of Alexander and Mary Jamieson, 192 Main Street, Camelon, Falkirk. Walter had three sisters Margaret, Mary, and Marion who lived in Camelon. Walter was a Pattern Maker at Sunnyside Iron Works before he emigrated to Australia. He was employed by Granite Saw & Planing Mills, North Queensland when he enlisted in Cairns

James Dick Hunter - Link to Falkirk
Private James Dick Hunter, 7th Battalion, 2nd Brigade, 1st Australian Division. Falkirk. Husband of Alice Davis Hunter, 51 Upton Road, Victoria and father of Lorna K Hunter. He was the fourth son of William and Eliza Hunter, 45 Graham's Road, Falkirk. He was employed as a painter when he enlisted on 21 July 1915. James was serving in the 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders for three years before he emigrated to Australia.

William Hamilton - Link to Dennyloanhead
Sapper William Hamilton, 3rd Field Company, 3rd Battalion, 1st Canadian Divisional Engineers. Dennyloanhead. Son of James and Christina Hamilton, Crisham Cottage, Dennyloanhead. William was unmarried and living at the Savoy Rooming House, Calgary when he enlisted on 26 February 1916. He gave his profession as ‘Sapper’. He was hospitalised with Gonorrhoea on 10 August 1916 and was discharged from hospital on 4 September.

John Bryson Dunsmuir - Link to Grangemouth
L/Cpl John Bryson Dunsmuir, ‘A’ Company, 56th Infantry Battalion, 14th Infantry Brigade, 5th Australian Division. Grangemouth. Before he emigrated to Australia John was employed by Muirhead & Son, Timber Merchants in Grangemouth. When the Battalion was in France John enjoyed some leave from 24 July to 5 August 1917 and he visited Grangemouth. He was living with his parents at ‘Avondale’, Forest Road, Bexley, Sydney, and working as a sawyer when he enlisted in September 1915.

Charles Edward Day - Links to Larbert
Sapper Charles Edward Day, 3rd Field Company, Engineers, Australian Imperial Force, Larbert. On the 25 September 1917, during the Battle of the Menin Road, the 3rd Field Company was engaged in constructing a light railway track in the Vijverhoek area, between Dickebusch and Ypres, when they came under heavy shell fire. Richard Cosgrove - Link to Bonnybridge
Private Richard Cosgrove, The Prince of Wales’s Leinster Regiment (Royal Canadians) The Battalion was in the line from 19 April to 6 May in the area around Armagh Wood, Clonmel Copse and Sanctuary Wood. During this period the Germans launched their gas attack at Langemark and breaking through the lines in the north of the Salient. This pressure resulted in the British eventually shortening their lines a creating the last line the GHQ line.
