Family: Allan was a regular soldier. He enlisted on 3 February 1908, joining the Royal Scots, when employed as a moulder and also serving in the Militia battalion 3rd Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders. His sister Elizabeth McCue resided in the Howgate, Falkirk. Allan landed in France on 19 December 1914.

The action leading to his death

The battalion took over the front line trenches in front of Vierstraat on 6 February and were in this position until 8 February when they were relieved. They had three Company’s in the firing line and one in support and battalion HQ in Vierstraat. Causalities during this time were five men killed and four wounded. Allan was one of the killed and his grave was subsequently lost.
