Family history: Son of Mrs Emmaline Vincent Croall. He resided at Weir Buildings, Cathcary, Bonnybridge. He had two brothers, two step brothers and a sister. They resided in Springburn, Glasgow with his mother. Prior to enlisting on 8 October 1914, he was employed as a labourer in the Castlecary Brick Works of John G Stein and Co. Ltd.
