Family history: Son of James and Flora Crosby, 35A Forganhall, Bankside, Bainsford, Falkirk. He enlisted on 23 September 1914 and before enlisting was employed as a moulder at Abbots Foundry, Falkirk. He had two brothers, Matt age 12, and Michael, age 24, who was serving as a Private in the 2nd Battalion, Gordon Highlanders, and two sisters Elizabeth and Jane age 17. His surname on all his documents is 'Crosbie' The CWGC list him as ‘Crosby’ and he is listed on the local war memorial as 'Crosby'
The action leading to his death
The 25 April 1915, is a day that brought catastrophe to 7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and to the towns and villages of Falkirk District.
