Family history: Son of William and Mary Sharp, East Borland, Denny. He had four brothers and five sisters. His eldest brother Thomas was serving with the Canadians. He was a member of the Territorial Battalion, enlisting on 2 April 1912, and was employed as a miner by the Banknock Coal Company.

The action leading to his death

The 25 April 1915, is a day that brought catastrophe to 1/7th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders and to the towns and villages of Falkirk District.
